Target Beneficiaries
  1. The candidates registered for a PhD degree in the present university/institute and under the Chair Professor will be eligible to apply for the fellowship.
  2. The scheme is dedicated to the social-economic transformation, thereby including the marginalized and the socially and economically backward groups. Therefore, as far as possible, persons belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, or those belonging to other Weaker Sections of the society may be preferred while selected as the Doctoral Fellows.
  3. A fair try will be made to select women candidates as per the selection criteria.
RESEARCH TOPICS

Research topics should be on the present and past of the social, cultural, economic and biological aspects of the deprived people and on the justice and empowerment of the weaker and oppressed section of the population. The research must be field-based.

FELLOWSHIP PERIOD

Doctoral fellows will get the fellowship for three years to be extendable by one year on extreme ground and up to satisfactory progress of the work.

Doctoral Research Scholar, Dr. Ambedkar Chair, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune
Monalisa Behera is a Doctoral Scholar in Education under the Dr. Ambedkar Chair, Symbiosis International (Deemed University). She holds an Integrated M.Sc.–M.Ed. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Teacher Education, Gandhinagar, and an Integrated B.Sc.–B.Ed. from the Regional Institute of Education (NCERT), Bhopal. She has qualified both UGC-NET and MH-SET in Education, reflecting strong academic grounding in the discipline. Her professional experience includes working as a TGT Mathematics Teacher at Delhi Public School, Sagar, and as an Aptitude Subject Matter Expert at TechCurators. She has also completed teaching and pedagogy-focused internships at the Regional Institute of Education (NCERT), Ajmer, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Gandhinagar, which strengthened her understanding of school systems, curriculum implementation, and classroom practices. Through her doctoral research, titled “Exploring Determinants of Dropout: A Study of Decline in Enrollment in Higher Education in Maharashtra,” Monalisa aims to examine structural, socio-economic, and institutional factors influencing student retention in higher education. Her research aligns with the vision of the Dr. Ambedkar Chair by adopting a socially conscious and equity-oriented perspective, with a focus on access, inclusion, and educational justice.

Deepali Kamble,
Doctoral Research Scholar, Dr. Ambedkar Chair, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune
She is a doctoral research scholar at the Dr Ambedkar Chair, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune. Her research is on ' Educational status of Karkari Community in Pune district: A sociological Analysis'. She holds a Master's degree in Sociology from Savitribai Phule Pune University. Her academic and research interests lie in the areas of gender, education, women's health, and tribal issues. She has gained extensive field experience through collaborative work with various NGOs, which has strengthened her understanding of grassroots realities and enhanced her research engagement in these domains. Her PhD duration is from January 2025 to January 2028
