Dr. Jyoti Chandiramani,
Director, Symbiosis School of Economics & Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
Prof Jyoti Chandiramani has completed her BA (1980) and MA (1982) in Economics from Bombay University. She pursued Diploma in Higher Education and later Ph.D. from Savitribai Phule University -'Foreign Direct Investments and Corporate Response: An Empirical Study with Reference to the Structure & Growth of a Select Sample of Firms in India'
Prof Jyoti has been the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences(FOHSS) since June 2010 as well as the Director - Symbiosis School of Economics.at the Symbiosis International (Deemed University. Presently in the fourth term as a Dean, she also Heads the Symbiosis Centre for Urban Studies (SCUS)- 2022.
Having taught a number of courses over the last 40 years: which includes Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, International Economics, Indian Banking and Financial System in India, Indian Economy, International Economic Cooperation, Managerial Economics, International Trade, International Economic Environment, Indian Financial System, Trade Policy, Trade Aid and Development, International Organization and Regional Cooperation, Urban Economic Development, Urban Mobility. She has also Conducted Management Development Programs which includes: Godrej (Mumbai), Zensar (Pune), Kalyani Semco (Pune), WNS (Pune), Mphasis (Pune & Bangalore), Cognizant (Pune), K Element (Chennai), Wipro (Belapur& Mumbai), Sahara Group (Amby Valley), EXL Services (Pune), Intel, Aztec, HP (Bangalore), Deloitte (Hyd) and Deutsche Bank (Bangalore & Mumbai), Continum Solutions (Delhi, Hyd) Dr Reddys (Thane, Indore), John Deere (Pune).

Over the course of her career she has had the privilege to be a member of the Forum for Development Cooperation (FIDC) and a member of the Steering Committee for University Connect for G 20.She has been invited by Macquarie University as a short term Fellow in the summer of 2018, Niti Aayog as a member of the Working Group on "City Governance and Smart Cities" (2017), invited to the 5th ASEM Rectors’ Conference, as a Mentor for the Students’ Forum (ARC5), organized by Charles University and the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) at Prague (2016), appointed as a member of the Fourth Estate of the Manipur University (2016) and invited as a part of the Indian delegation to Pakistan for the Tenth South Asian Economic Students Meet (SAESM) at Lahore University of Management Sciences (2013). In 2015, Prof. Jyoti was conferred with the iCongo instituted Gold Karmaveer Chakra and Rex Karmaveer Global Fellowship in Delhi, for her contributions to the field of education.
Research areas:
Prof. Jyoti research is presently focused on issues associated with Urban Economic Development (urban poverty, urban infrastructure, urban mobility, urban policy, etc.). Besides, she keenly studies and follows trends in International Development Cooperation – from the MDGs to the SDGs.

Prof. Jyoti has been presently working on Pune centric cases wrt urban and other development issues. She has also been guiding a number of PhD scholars at the University.

Dr. Hemangi Kadlak,
Assistant Professor, Dr. Ambedkar Chair, Symbiosis International Deemed University, Pune.
Dr. Hemangi Kadlak, currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune. She earned her PhD from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai and holds an MPhil degree in Social Work from Bishop Heber College, Bharatidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. Dr. Kadlak also obtained a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune, with honors in Sociology from Mumbai University during her B.A. studies. Following her MSW, Dr. Kadlak gained valuable experience working with various NGOs. She has a rich academic background, having taught at institutions like SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai, Vellore Institute of Technology in Tamil Nadu, Amity University, Mumbai, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune.
Dr. Kadlak is a prolific researcher, with a notable focus on sanitation community issues, the youth of sanitation workers, and their education. Her work has been published in esteemed national and international journals and edited books. Notably, her paper on women sanitation workers is preserved for study at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. She's made significant international contributions, including participation in student exchange programs at Keel University in the UK in 2013, and an International Study Tour to Columbia University, USA, in 2015. She also served as an Independent Research Scholar at the Global Centre for Global Development and Sustainability (GDS) at Brandeis University, USA, in 2016. In addition to her research, Dr. Kadlak has reviewed papers for journals published by SAGE Publication and BMJ Global Health Journal. She is an Advisory Committee Member for the project "Global advocacy for health, safety, and dignity of workers in sanitation," initiated by SNV, WaterAid, ILO, WHO, and the World Bank since February 2021. Further, she has undertaken the role of Principal Investigator for the summer 2021 and 2022 semester research fellowship at the International Socioeconomics Laboratory Board, Harvard University, USA. She actively participates in academic conferences, often chairing sessions at different colleges and delivering lectures. She also conducts training sessions for community leaders to enhance their capacity.
Her primary research interests revolve around gender, education, intersectionality, intergenerational mobility, caste, and the impact of parents' occupation on their children.
