Dr. Ambedkar Chair has undertaken the project on Review of Dr. Ambedkar’s Writing and Writing on Ambedkar by Other Writers on the issue of Education to comprehend educational views of Dr. Ambedkar and other scholars who have reflected the prospects of Ambedkar’s educational view in the contemporary Indian society.

For this, we have examined and analyzing the literature of Ambedkar written specifically in English and Marathi. We also endeavor to explore other source material like magazine, newspapers, etc. in Ambedkar and Post Ambedkar era.

This literature review has been initiated from the 1st January, 2024 and work is still in progress which we expect to compile and complete it in the end of March. We are reviewing the scholarly literature written by others on the educational issue of Dr. Ambedkar.

So, for, we are nearly reached to introspect his writing and speeches but few has been left. The ideas of education could be located in the vol. 1,2, 5, 6, 12, 13, 15, 17- Part-I, II, III. Parallelly, we also taking the scholarly written articles and books by other authors.

Under the scheme of project, we have appointed a Research Associate, Mr. Vir Pratap Singh Gautam, M.Phil., JNU and pursuing his PhD from the same university, to support our efforts. He joined our team in February 2024, and his specific responsibilities have been outlined.

The responsibilities of Research Associate consist of gathering and comparing the data, assisting to review Dr. Ambedkar's idea on Education, coordinating to conduct the program including seminars, conferences, etc., to assist in writing and creating a summary of the project. We are hopeful and committed to submit our project within the given time span.

In April, completed all the pending work related to the conference, report writing, and accounting. Almost all volumes (Volume 20 of the writing and speeches of Dr Ambedkar) were studied to compile the work of Dr Ambedkar on education.

The research paper ‘Understanding Educational Aspirations among the Scheduled Caste’ is almost done.
